Cafe Allenby. קפה אלנבי. King George 6, Jerusalem, 1938 to 1979. It opened as a Viennese cafe, all waiters and table service, then came back from a 1949 trip to America with the first donuts and first soft serve ice cream Jerusalem had ever tasted. For two decades it was where every Jerusalem teenager met on a Saturday night, before the movie and after. The cafe is gone now. For anyone who grew up downtown, anyone who misses the old King George, and anyone who takes their nostalgia with sprinkles. Printed on a soft, comfortable tee.
